antique fishing rods?

Question
Hey there Rob. I found some old fishing rods while cleaning out my grandfather's basement The brands that I can make out are; Shakespeare, J h alexander and son Indian Head, Gene F. Edwards, and Montauk I believe all of which seem to be bamboo or wood of some sort and are 3 or 4 sections. A couple with aluminum looking tubes for them and then in a couple with canvas sheethes. They have been in his basement as long as I can remember and ill be 26 next month. I'm sure there's some value there but how much I have no idea. Is there anything you may be able to tell me about them?

Answer
Trevor,

The Gene Edwards rod is probably your best rod, its value will depend on condition, length and completeness (two tips, bag, tube). Value would range from $50 to $250 as a rough guess.

The Montague would run $20-40, shakespeare $30 to $75.

Again, condition is everything, and value drops very fast if the rod isn't near perfect.

I dont recognize the JH Alexander and son model - perhaps a trade rod?
