History of G.E. Whaling & Sons Split Bamboo Fishing Rods

Question
My great grandfather g.e. whaling was the manufacturer of split bamboo rods known as "whaling-good"in cleveland ohio. His company g.e. whaling and sons made wood and metal patterns and the split bamboo rods. I have one of the rods(2 pieces) but I can't find any info on him or his company.I'm not even sure of the year-probably 1920s. was just wondering if you knew anything about these rods? thanks, Nancy
