Clarification on CC

Question
There was an answer on here from Marc Evans, PGA Pro I guess, who defined CC as "cubic capacity ", not as cubic centimeters. I have read that cc is defined as the displacement of a club head when submersed in water and how many cubic centimeters of water it displaces. Others are saying it is the size of the face of the club only. Would you please tell me the "real" meaning of the use of "CC" is on the driver specs? ie: 428 cc, 460cc etc. ..It is fairly obvious that when the two are set side by side the 460 is a larger club head, but what is actually being measured?  ..the overall size of the head , or the size of the face? ..and does it have anything to do with water displacement...and does it mean "cubic centimeter" or "cubic capacity" ?  Thank you.  William..,Wellington, Florida

Answer
HI William;

I am not exactly positive as to what the manufacturers had in mind when they labeled them with the CC desgination.

My guess would be Cubic centimeters.

My best suggestion would be to contact the manufacturer directly for the answer.

Sorry for the late reply on this.  did not see the original email
