Steel Irons flex of shaft.

Question
Hi.   I am looking into buying new irons and I'm not sure which flex to get.  they are::: 5.0  6.0  6.5  My swing speed is about 90mph.  I hit my 6 Iron around 165-75.  7 iron 150-60   hope this helps, and thanks for any help.

Answer
John,

Buying new irons is a very exciting time. The best way to determine which shaft flex is best for you is to try the different shafts on the driving range. Swing speed is important, but so is accuracy, trajectory and feel.

Buying new irons is a big investment and it may be best to have a full club fitting from a local PGA Professional. Call around and see what the charge is. Sometimes the fee may be waived if you purchase the set from their shop.

If you cannot do either of the above then I would recommend the 6.0 for the shaft flex based on your swing speed.

Good luck and let me know what you purchase,

Michael Hoffman
