Poor Distance

Question
I'm a 73 year old golfer. My tee shots max out at about 175 yrds. That leaves me about 160 from the green. Making it difficult to reach the green in two.Is there a golf ball available that would get me maximum distance? I belive I have tried everything else to gain yardage.

Answer
Hi Len:  I've heard a lot of good stuff about the TaylorMade TP Red.  You can read an opinion on it by copying and pasting this link:  http://www.golfblogger.com/index.php/golf/comments/taylormade_red_and_black_tp_g...

I have two other things to consider if you haven't.  One is to increase your strength and flexibility.  Swinging two clubs at a time in slow motion will strengthen your golf muscles and if you constantly try to increase your range of motion (particularly on your back swing), you'll increase your distance through the resulting increase in club head speed.

Secondly, check to see if your feet are in the same position at the end of your swing as at the beginning.  If they or you have moved, you're losing your balance during the swing.  That means you started the swing out of balance.  If you're struggling with balance during the swing, the club won't be moving at optimum speed.

Good luck Len, fairways and greens,

John
