Ping Zing irons vs. Ping Zing 2 irons

Question
I own a set of both Ping Zing irons (black dot) and Ping Zing 2 irons (black dot).  I see and feel no difference between the two sets.  What did Ping do differently when manufacturing the two models?  Thanks.

Answer
Hello Mike,

Thanks for the quesiton. Well the manufacturers will always bring out a new model even if the previous is still great. Why? - Money. I don't feel there are many differences between the zing and zing 2. However here is the official answer as to how the zing 2 is better.
Zing: (1992)  the ZING iron defined "extreme perimeter weighting." The deeply indented trailing edge helped reduce the surface area in contact with the turf while further increasing the perimeter weighting.

Zing 2: (1994) Offering the key weighting features of the ZING iron with more rounded shape, the ZING 2 continued the emphasis on "extreme" weighting to optimize forgiveness for greater accuracy. The ZING 2's sole design not only complements the extreme weighting design, but also reduces the surface area in contact with the turf to promote clean ball contact.

For me the look of the design shows the zing 2 has more wieght towards the toe end of the club, which will help reduce the chance of slicing. Technically it increases the centrifugal force between the toe and shaft.

I hope this helps. Probably not.

Kind regards,

Marc Evans.
