College Golf to Professional: What are the Odds?

Question
what is the percentage, that a college golfer  can become a pro???

Answer
Gerardo,

That's a good question and I'm not aware of any study that's been done to determine the percentage of college golfers that become a professional tour player.  Of course, most do not have the talent or desire.  And out of the ones that try to make it on tour, only a few are successful.

The top few college players have a very good chance of making it on tour.  I would say, for an All-America player from one of the best golf schools...the percentage might be 50% or so.  For the "average" college golfer, I'd say the percentage would be closer to 1%.  The average college player usually plays 2 or 3 years on mini tours and on the Nationwide Tour before having a good enough game for the PGA Tour.

But as I said, I'm just giving you an educated guess.

Best wishes,
