I think I made a mistake

Question
I am considering going back to college to play golf and obtain a degree. A couple of years ago I entered one tournament on the California Players Tour, and one on the Golden State Tour. Along with attempting to qualify for the U.S. Open. I entered these events as a professional only because I didn't have a low enough handicap to compete as an amateur. I finished all events very close to last place and didn't win any money. I am asking if there is any possible
way to obtain my amateur status once again. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Dear Mr. Mills,

The short answer is "yes".  You may be reinstated as an amateur by writing to the USGA.  The have a process.  You will need to tell them the date and circumstances of your "turning professional".  If the details in your letter here are the only professional experiences you've had it won't be that difficult to regain your amateur status.

Best regards,

Paul Dolman
