Hi there

Question
Remember me?
Earlier the week, I asked you about how to make my left arm straighter on the upswing. I have worked real hard all week long and have now corrected most of the problems. My coach saw me yesterday and he is pretty impressed with my advancement.

Thanks to you which inspire me a lot on how to join the pieces of insructions that my coach has given me. I am swinging with more coil now and my swing path is better. I am now working to keep my clubface and shoulder square at impact.

However, I am having some doubts on my shots. As I am also learning about using the same swing fundamentals and altering impact positions for different shot trajectory, I wonder how many different shots a person needs to play good golf. Generally, my ball now is dead straight. Is controlling the trajectory enough (high real soft landing/low with spin)? Or do we need to learn all regardless of whether we can do it consistently?

Thanks and with best regards,
M.Y.

Answer
Hi M.Y.

I was informed that I never answered this question, so I assume my reply did not get to you!  Sorry about that.

My answer was that if you are happy with a pretty straight ball flight, you could have worse problems....but learning how to work the ball with a "fade" or a "draw" on command can only add shots to your arsenal.  Work with your instructor on how to do this.  Don't settle for anything...you are in control of your improvement, so get as good as you feel you can be.  Pay attention to your physical conditioning, flexibility, etc.  Work with your instructor on an on-going basis.  Practice and play.....it is way too much fun not to!

Let me know how you progress!

Rick
