Just starting out,

Question
I have never snowboarded before and am going to buy one from a show. I am 6'5 and am wondering how long of a board I need... and what else to look for other than a good deal.
Thankyou
Karrera

Answer
Karrera,  well, I'm 5'7" 150 lbs and I ride a 157cm board.  My brother is 6'1'' and 200 lbs and rides a 160cm.  For a board you need to consider your hieght as well as your weight.  Height determines length of the board.  Your weight determines how stiff of a board you get.  If you don't weigh much like me, a softer board will be better.  When you go look at boards put it up to your body and it should rest somewhere between your chin and your lower lip.  For a beginner a shorter, softer flex board will make it easier to learn and manuever.  Other than than, look for at least a one yr warranty (most companies do a two yr one), get something that looks well produced, there are mainly two kinds of board constructions, capped and sandwiched.  The sandwich style holds up better and is what i would recommend. Ask a lot of questions when you go.  Some good brands are Academy, Burton, Ride, Salomon.  You can expect to pay about $300-$500 on a quality board.

Good luck,  Ben
