what to buy?
Question
So, I started boarding about 8-10 years ago, I went recreationally for a couple of years and then stopped for the past 5-7 years. Now I am alot closer to the slopes (tahoe) and am ready to get into it more seriously. I am about 185 lbs, 6'3'', and I wear a size 14 shoe! I remember board size being a "big" issue. I plan on riding the whole mountain initially and later in the season trying the half pipes. Any suggestions on the right size, type board, boot, bindings would be totally appreciated. thanx
Answer
OK.... so ya have big feet.. So now ya have to ride a wider board, big deal.... thats nothin... the best Wide board thats good in the pow and in the park is the Burton Canyon. the only draw back is, its not a great pipe board, usually pipe riders ride thinner boards cause they have smaller feet. If i were you, I'd get the Canyon in like a size 158 to like a 162.. it all depends on the weight ranges for them. For a boot, 32 makes some good boots, I ride their Prion Boot, I love it, its comfortable, and keps my feet warm, but not too warm that they sweat. THe only problem your gonna have with the boot thing is, I dont know how big the sizes come. Bindings- Like you said u wanted to rie the park/pipe or whatever, I'd go with ( if money isnt a factor) the Burton C14s... and if it is a factor, the burton CFX are great freestyle bindings. I ride them... for me, the CFX's are the perfect free- sole binding. Oh yeah, and if your feet are still too big for the canyon, get gas pedals, i think "RED" makes them, they go infront of the bindings on the board and raise your toe up so there's less over hang to screw ya up. Oh well, Im out of ideas now... good luck on the whole board shopping thing...
P.s. Ride it like ya stole it
