Wrestling Conditioning

Question
I've been running xc to get in shape for wrestling season this year. I average close to 50 miles a week, as well as lifing regularly. The season is over and I have 3 days until wrestling practice starts. If I take three days off, but continue to lift, will I see any decrease in my hard earned aerobic conditioning?

Answer
i have never run that much per week over a long period so i can't say for sure. but i wouldn't imagine you'd see much of a drop off.  but keep in mind that running and wrestling are two different animals.  wrestling is like sprinting short distances while you're lifting.  there is a dramatic difference between running shape and wrestling shape.  aerobic conditioning is good, having that is always a plus.  but wrestling requires you to be explosive when you're tired, more of an anaerobic conditioning.  so three days off i don't think will hurt you, but be prepared for a different kind of "tired" then you're use to. let me know how it goes, and good luck!
