Question
QUESTION: Yello
I'm asking general questions about what to eat and what not to eat. I know that the less fat the better, what what about carbohydrates and protein? I know there's the 5:2:3 ratio of carb, fat, protein respectively. What kind of food is generally good for wrestling? The periods of training, before and after match?
Thank you for any tips about a good diet!

ANSWER: I have this method called "happy eating" that basically means to spend a lot of time (about 20 minutes) eating your food and talking (phone, person). Have a mentality that your eating because your body needs nutrients instead of worrying about "getting fat" or "eating unhealthy". Once your not anxious about your diet then you will be a lot better.

Basically the one and only food you need to stay away from is sugar. Anything that you "crave" for is bad, which usually is sugar. These things turn into fat. I would usually go for protein = your body weigh and load up my diet with complex carbs. I eat a lot of bread and rice simply because my body needs it to get energy and such.

You also need to put in consideration that you need to be eating at least 6 meals divided evenly every day. During practice season (days without competition) I would load up with a lot of carbs and protein. Before a match I would cut the carbs and keep the protein the same and eat even smaller meals (sometimes 9-10 meals for "snacks"). After a match I eat as much until my body is satisfied (healthy of course)

After your have followed the guidelines to a healthy diet, all you have to worry about is what your body tells you to do. Just don't eat until you feel "full" or don't ever "crave" or get "hungry". Once you accomplish that, then you know your eating healthy.

QUESTION: You said to divide a whole day's meal up evenly into lots of meals, I know that's suppose to be more healthy for you. But, I've heard to eat more at breakfast and less at dinner? what's the deal with that?
Thanks in advance

Answer
in general, you would want to eat less during dinner time. Don't eat within 3 hours of your bed time. I personally eat more during breakfast than I do during dinner. I eat more during lunch than I do during breakfast. If I feel a little bit hungry then that's when I would eat a snack. Feel free to ask any more questions.
