Bruno Sammartino/Ultimate Warrior

Question
why does the guys i mentioned in the subject line not want anything to do with WWE i know they made a dvd about warrior what serious and long lasting disagreements does Bruno have with Vince?

Answer
Hi Devan.  Thanks for the question.

Bruno is just an old school wrestler, and he never agreed with the direction WWE took once Vince McMahon, Jr. took over the promotion from his dad, Vince, Sr.  He has been critical of the steroid and drug use that took place, especially in the mid to late 1980's.  Back then, it appeared obvious that a majority of the wrestlers were on steroids, not to mention illegal drugs like cocaine.

Bruno has also been outspoken about the content of the programming, in regards to having more racy content, and basically pushing the limit with language and sexual innuendo.  Bruno just feels that Vince ruined pro wrestling.  He feels that back in his day, guys could actually wrestle and get over, while in today's wrestling, it's more about a gimmick getting over then anything.  For instance, Hulk Hogan had a great gimmick that obviously worked, but he couldn't wrestle worth a lick.

Bruno just doesn't want anything to do with WWE, because he doesn't want to promote the product at all.  WWE has wanted to induct him into the Hall of Fame for years, but Bruno has never agreed to be a part of it.

As far as the Ultimate Warrior goes, there have just been several disagreements between him and Vince over the years.

Once Warrior started getting really big, he trademarked the Warrior name, which WWE didn't like, and they went to court over it. There were also a couple of instances where Warrior threatened to not show up at a PPV if he wasn't paid more money.  He also, at least according to WWE, no showed some dates, unexcused.

Then there was the video you mentioned, which basically buried him.  Warrior took WWE to court over the video.  Warrior has stated in the past that he just doesn't want anything to do with WWE.

The rumors are now that WWE would like to induct Warrior into the Hall of Fame, and they have used his name in a more positive light recently, and have included him in video games and action figures.

It just remains to be seen with Warrior will accept an invitation to the Hall of Fame, if indeed WWE plans to induct him.

Thanks again for the question.  Let me know if you have anything else.

Have a great day!

Dave
