Question
hi dave just a few questions..

1. When monster guys come into the industry like brock lesner, batista, big show etc. they get big pushes because vince likes the big physique. So why did chris masters never get that big push? he was just as built as batista and brock?

2. Do you think any of these guys will get a run or another run with the title? Mark henry, ezekial jackson, kozlov, santino, rey mysterio or cody rhodes?

3. will the rock beat cena and win the title at WM28 in your opinion?

4. is there any legit feuds going on at the moment within wwe?

5. From your knowledge who are the 'real' tough guys in wwe at the minute?

Answer
Hi Billy.  Thanks for the question.

1.  If you remember, Masters did get a pretty big push when he first started with WWE.  He had the Masterlock Challenge going on for a long period of time, and eventually was put into high profile feuds with Shawn Michaels, and had a championship match as well.

The knock on Masters was that he was limited in what he could do in the ring, and he just wasn't over enough with the crowd to be considered a consistent main eventer.  Batista and Big Show aren't considered all that great in the ring, but they were both over with the crowd.

Of course, it didn't help that Masters has failed two drug tests, and was fired after the 2nd one.

2.  Mark Henry - no.  He's no more then a low to mid carder at this point in his career.  I just don't see him being a guy that is going to sell a PPV.

Ezekial Jackson - at this point no, but he has potential.  He has a good look, but he still needs improvement in the ring and on the mic.

Kozlov - no.  I liked his gimmick a few years ago, but he's turned into basically a comedy act with Santino.  It's hard to take him seriously, and like Henry, he isn't going to sell a PPV.

Santino - no.  The fans love him, but they aren't going to take him seriously as a championship contender.

Rey Mysterio - yes.  I could see Rey having another run with the title.  He's still over big with the fans.  I can't see him holding the title for a long period of time, but I can see him holding it for a few months.

Cody Rhodes - maybe.  Right now I would say no, as I think he's better suited for the U.S. or Intercontinental Title.  At the same time, if you would have asked me a year or two if I thought he would be getting a big push right, I would have said you're crazy.  He has really improved, and has a pretty good gimmick right now, so who knows?

3.  I really don't know right now. I just think it's too early to make a prediction.

To me, I think a lot of it depends on how much the Rock is going to be around after WM28.  WWE can't really have a champion that is going to make sporadic appearances.  If WWE could work something out with the Rock where he will appear regularly on Raw and a few PPV's after WM, then I could see him winning the title.

Otherwise, I don't really see the point of having Cena lose, but that's just me.  I'm not saying Cena is going to win, just that I don't see the logic of him losing without the Rock hanging around.

4.  I haven't heard of anything lately.  The only thing would be Cena and the Rock, but I think that has been blown out of proportion.  Cena started it a while back with some comments that he made regarding the Rock leaving wrestling behind.  The Rock took exception to the comments, but I don't think it's a case where they are really feuding.  I think it's more of friendly rivalry then anything.  They probably aren't going to ever be best friends, but it's not like they hate each other either.

5.  Some of the ones I've heard that are legitimate tough guys include William Regal, The Undertaker, Vladimir Kozlov, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Wade Barrett, and Alberto Del Rio.  A lot

Thanks again for the question.  Let me know if you have anything else.

Have a great night!

Dave
