Pro Wrestling Schools

Question
My name is Derek. I live in a small town named Hammond in central Illinois. I am currently 13 years old and would like to gain expierence in Pro Wrestling. I am also involved in Devour Acadamy of Martial Arts but I have had the dream to wrestle in front of crowds all over the world like TNA and WWE. If you could find a school near me i would really appreiciate it.

Answer
How are you doing Derek?

After doing some research on the internet, I did locate a few wrestling schools that are within 150 miles of you, however, none of them will take you until you are 18 years old.  My recommendation to you right now is to start a good regimen of cardio endurance, flexibility and some strength training.  You don't want to lift too heavily for a number of reasons.  One at your age; your bones, muscles, and joints are really starting to develop and a heavy lifting routine will hurt you in the long run.  Second, heavy lifting will mess with your martial arts training.  Third, you don't need to be too muscular in wrestling.  Flexibility is far more important then muscles.

You will discover that when you begin training, you will probably have a hard time with wrestling training.  Martial arts has a different mindset then wrestling does.  You will find bumping difficult because of the different way we fall vs. martial arts.  You will find punching and kicking difficult because wrestling is big and martial arts is hidden.  There are those rare exceptions, but for the most part, all people that I've trained with martial arts backgrounds have a tough time transitioning to wrestling.

Also, another thing you can do now to get yourself ready for the world of professional wrestling is to sign up for some acting classes and public speaking classes.  The acting classes will teach you how to show emotion in your face and with your body.  It will also help you with being comfortable in front of people.  The public speaking will do the same, but the public speaking will center more on how to talk to people without freezing up in front of them.

Hope these answers help you.  Good luck
