What percent of professional wrestlers are stuck in the independents?

I'd say about 85%-95% of wrestlers never move past the independent promotions in a big way, but  nobody knows the exact number of wrestlers out there. It is relatively safe to say that upwards of 90% don't get far in a major promotion, but there would be a small percentage of wrestlers who briefly get into a major promotion but don't stay there long and for the vast majority of their careers are in the independents. There would also be a fair amount of wrestlers who say, do tryouts for a major promotion but don't get picked up.

The answer would also depend on what we call a major promotion. There are some promotions that some people would call a 'major independent promotion' that others would call a major promotion proper.

Of course, wrestelrs don't necessarily have to be in major promotions to do rather well for themselves.
