Question
i thank you for your qwick response on my question about the bounty hunters. you asked where am i located. right now peru in. but my youth was spent in hoopeston il. i would watch awa wrestling on channel 4 wttv indianapolis in. when the wind blew right.(that was before cable came to town)1965 is when i started watching these guys.in 1967 we got cable but this was still the only wrestling on in the area.in 1976 the year i graduated high school my cousin cashbox kent came through town and said he started wrestling in the territory and that i could accompany him to chicago to a match at the old cominsky park. i watched from the white sox dugout. the first wrestler i met besides my cousin was andre the giant in the sox shower room. i stayed with him on the road that whole summer. i met them all. i helped with the ring and sold merchandise.what an education i had that summer.but i was also delated to discover that wrestling was fakeor as they put it "sportsmanship" when you set ringside a couple of months and see the near misses and drink a beer after the show with a guy that was carried out on a stretcher, its pretty clear. but i had a ball. i will try those sites you gave me. thanx again. here is some i hung with bruiser, snyder, bounty hunters(my protectors)strangler, johnny starr,ox baker, paul christy, spike huber(bruiser's son in law),steve regal(snyder's son in law),sailor art thomas, bobby boldeagle. to name a few. write back.

Answer
AHHHH the good ole AWA-WWA days.  Actually, I live not to far from Paul Christy when he lived in Hickory Hills, IL as a kid it was the greatest.  He was a very cool guy to us kids and when we were old enough to drink we would always see him at a couple local establishments.
I spent alot of time going the civic center in Hammond and of course the Amplitheatre in Chicago to see them.  That was a "real" show.  Now I do not mind going to shows, but laser shows and mini concerts really dont belong.
That is very cool seeing what you did.  The wretling legend site would be a really good nostilga site as well and you may want to check them out.  Most of may tape material is the latter 70's and early 80s.  I do have some mid 70s and early 70 but it is mixed with newer material.
Last year at an Indie show up in Hillside, IL they brought out ole Bob Luce, and honored him with being a driving force for keeping wrestling in IL, In, & WI.
As Archie says, "Those were the days!"
