Snowboarding and Wakeboarding

2016/7/23 11:25:08

Snowboarding and wakeboarding are two very different types of sports. The most obvious difference is that snowboarding involves snow. In snowboarding, the participant rides a board that looks like a skateboard without wheels, down a snow-covered hill or mountainside. It is a very a blend between skateboarding and skiing, although one goes down slopes much like skiing, they ride down the slope much like they are riding a skateboard. Snowboarding events can be seen often on television, in particular during the winter Olympics.

Wakeboarding takes place on lakes or other large bodies of water. In wakeboarding, the participant is pulled by a boat while on a board. A wakeboard is quite a bit wider than a snowboard. A wakeboarder uses the waves produced by the boat pulling them to perform jumps and even midair spins by weaving in and out of the wake.

There are five distinct differences between these two sports that might help decide which one might be better for you:

1) Snowboarding is a more expensive sport as it usually requires travel.

2) Wakeboarding is typically sport enjoyed more by those who enjoy warm weather while snowboarding is for those who like colder weather.

3) Wakeboarding requires that the participant have a boat and someone to drive the boat.

4) Snowboarding is a bit more of an extreme sport than wakeboarding, although both are dangerous and require skill and coordination.

5) Snowboarding might require taking a class to fully be prepared, where as wakeboarding is much more of a learning through experience type sport.

These are the major differences between snowboarding and wakeboarding now simply chose your sport and have fun.
