Fancy skiing somewhere different this Winter?

As Germany starts to get included in the skiing catalogues, we take a moment to remind you of what you should do in the case of any accidents on the slopes.

Germany will play host to major ski holidays as tour operators start to include some of its resorts in its packages for the ski season.

Cosmos, a UK tour operator, has refused to follow the suit of other companies of sticking with the classics ?Austria, France and Italy ?and has instead opted for the relatively unknown pistes of Germany. However, what it lacks in mainstream appeal will surely be made up with lower prices and fewer people on the slopes.

Still, in Germany as in any other destination, the same rules apply for ensuring that you don抰 get into trouble. Much like with driving a car, there are some codes to follow ?this is the FIS (Federation Internationale de Ski). This should help prevent you from having an accident. If you do have an accident, you should take photographs of the scene of the accident as well as write down details of witnesses, regardless of nationality. You should then report the accident to the relevant authorities and get a copy of the report or number to identify it.

If medical treatment is necessary, make sure you get it ?this should be available to all members of the EU. Of course, you should get in touch with your travel insurance provider in advance to cover any potential expenses and, in some cases, to begin looking into the issue of compensation where it抯 due. Don抰 sell yourself short!
