Chablais Ski Resorts, Adventure, Culture And Leisure

The ski resorts of the Chablais � Portes du Soleil region can be classified into mountain resorts, valley resorts, and lake resorts. The mountain resorts include the Les Crosets, the Champry, and the Torgon-Vionnaz. Some of the valley resorts are the Vrossaz, the Collombey-Muraz, and the Miex. On Lake Geneva, the new ski resorts are the Le Bouveret, the Les Evouettes, and the St, Gingolph. Any of these ski resorts can offer adventure, culture, and leisure.

Adventure

There is year-round adventure in the ski resorts of Chablais � Portes du Soleil. During summer, bikers and hikers will enjoy the bubbly environment that entices every explorer. There are about 380 total kilometers of biking trails and about 800 total kilometers of footpaths that can be reached using any of the 24 cable cars. There are also trails, bounded by breathtaking scenery, for horseback riders.

During winter, the skiers and snowboarders will have easy access to more than 650 total kilometers of ski runs that are distributed over 14 valleys and are serviced by 230 lifts. The higher regions, of course, are guaranteed with excellent snow conditions. Besides ski runs, there are also numerous winter walking paths and snowshoe trails.

For a specific adventure, the skiers can visit the new ski resort of Les Crosets. The area is small but it has the renowned Swiss Wall or the La Chavanette. It starts at 2,151 meters above sea level and has a vertical drop of 331 meters. The steep one-kilometer-long slope of the La Chavanette is classified as orange. For snowboarders, the new ski resort to visit in the Chablais � Portes du Soleil region is the Avoriaz. The icy cliffs and the reliable snow made Avoriaz a major snowboarding favorite.

Culture

The Chablais � Portes du Soleil region has new ski resorts that offer various cultural experiences, through theme parks and historical sites. For example, there is the ski resort town of Saint-Maurice-en-Valais, which was established during the early Roman period and has a medieval abbey that pilgrims have been visiting for more than 1,500 years. Another example is the ski resort in Le Bouveret where visitors of the Chablais � Portes du Soleil region can enjoy the theater and a cruise. And, of course, there is the Chtel, a genuine Savoyard village that boasts of the Pub L'Avalanche.

Leisure

Leisure comes in many forms when the skiers are in the Chablais � Portes du Soleil region. For example, there are thermal baths in the Val-d'Illiez and the Lavey-les-Bains, where skiers can cap their adventurous day with a luxurious and therapeutic soak. Another example is a tour of the small village and ski resort of Morgins, where people can enjoy the traditional Swiss chalets, without skyscraping hotels marring the horizon. During winter, tourists can also watch a ski torch light descent that is held every Wednesday.

To enjoy the adventure, culture, and leisure in the new ski resorts of the Chablais � Portes du Soleil region, skiers can plan on various transportation options. They can drive directly from Germany, France, or Italy. They can ride the train on a train network managed by the Swiss Federal Railway. Or they can fly in, either into the Geneva Airport or into the Zrich Airport. From the airport, skiers can reach the Chablais � Portes du Soleil region by bus or a rental car.
