5 Things You’ll Love About Ski Trips In Springtime

The ski season may be coming to an end. But that won’t stop a few savvy skiers from taking advantage of the dwindling crowds to say goodbye to the season with spring ski trips. It’s not just the prospect of seeing less people in ski resorts that lure skiers back to the mountains for their last few runs down the slopes.

Here are 5 reasons why spring ski vacations still hold a certain appeal:

Sun and warmth

You won’t have to worry about packing your bulky ski coat to the mountains as you won’t even need them. It’s going to be warm enough for you to only wear a few layers to cruise down the slopes. Warmer weather also means you can enjoy lunch al fresco on a pair of flipflops.

A Longer days

Spring skiing allows you to enjoy a more leisurely pace, as you won’t have to wake up really early to get to the ski lift first. Apart from less competition, you also have plenty of time and opportunity to hone your skills on the slopes.

Potential fresh powder

Contrary to popular belief, there will still be enough fresh powder to enjoy up until May, thanks to occasional snow storms during the last weeks of April. You can enjoy great off-piste skiing (provided you’re with a guide) come first week of May.

If fresh powder is not going to happen anytime during those days, you can learn to love the softer and slushier corn snow.

More discounts

Springtime is the best time to score discounts as huge as 50% on accommodations, lift passes and even ski lessons. Many resorts try to lure skiers into booking with them with big rebates on the last leg of the ski season before finally closing for summer.

Zero roadblocks

During spring time, the chances of getting stuck in the snow mid-way to the resort, or having to take another route due to road closures are nill. You can take a leisurely drive to the resort of your choice, without worrying about the traffic, fallen trees or the roadblocks.

End-of-season festivities

Many resorts, too, hold exciting festivals and events as a bittersweet send off to the season skiers have been looking forward to for months. Expect to see locals in their best (and weirdest) ski costumes, ladies skiing in bikini tops, pond skimming and even concerts and music festivals. Apres ski activities during springtime, too are worth looking forward to when the day ends.

There’s so much to look forward to come April and May.

While mid-season always guarantees the best conditions for skiing, waiting up for spring time to go on a ski trip also has its perks. And the good news is, not a lot of people know about it.
