Ski Kissing Bridge, New York

Kissing Bridge Ski Area is a fun little ski area located in Glenwood, New York, forty-five minutes south of Buffalo on route NY-240. Its favorable location within this "Colden Snowbelt" region guarantees an average of 180 inches of annual snowfall. That's a lot of snow and it helps the area provide consistently good ski conditions!

"KB", as the locals call it, was my home base for skiing while growing up in Hamburg, just a short drive away. It's more of a regional destination, drawing ski and snowboard enthusiasts from metropolitan Buffalo and surrounding towns, as well as Canadians from Ontario. KB's 600 foot vertical drop is nothing to get excited about, but its expansive and diverse terrain (36 trails), superior lift service (9 lifts), and outstanding Aprs-ski make KB a locals favorite! Western New York's largest downhill tubing park, Colden Tubing Co., is located adjacent to KB North. Here you can ride to the summit and slide to the valley floor some 10 stories down.

The ski area is divided up into three sections --- "South", "Central", and "North". I personally like Central the best, as it has the best slopes, restaurant, and Aprs-ski. Willie's Smokehouse is a neat pub located across from the Cental Lodge Ticket Centre, slopeside on the Sun Deck. The ambiance, food, and views of the hill are awesome! The Lake Effect Saloon, also located at Central, has been rockin' the Glenwood Valley for years and frequently hosts the best bands the local area has to offer. For more formal dining, The Harvest Room offers fine dining in a relaxed fireside atmosphere with views of the Central Area slopes.

The South Area slopes are gentle and picturesque. But there is only one lift, which can be troublesome on busy days. The North Area has a good assortment of beginner and intermediates, and an excellent base lodge.

KB has an excellent junior ski racing program and hosts the Molson and the Niagara Adult Race league, where their mantra is "it's all about having fun".

Being a regional destination, there is not much in terms of Lodging within the immediate area. You're best choices are in the town of Hamburg, about a half hour away.
