How to Become a Better Skier

The fresh snow, the wind in your face, the sense of peace in your mind as you carve excellent turns, but in order to achieve such a level of perfection, you have to get in shape, and practice the basics.

Steps

  1. 1 Ace the fundamentals, including turns, stops, jumps. You'll never be able to ski better if you can't do any of these. Start by pushing yourself little by little, for example, if you have the tendency to make wide, long turns, push yourself to make shorter quicker turns, this will allow you to be able to ski in smaller areas.
  2. 2 Get in excellent shape. Skiing requires that you have strong legs, abs, and chest. a great way to build these muscles without taxing yourself on weights is to distance run, about 3–4 miles (4.8–6.4 km), then do some squats & wall-sits(push your back against a wall will in a squat position, like you're sitting in an invisible chair)do this for a couple of weeks and you'll have rock hard legs. also do crunches & push-ups for your abs and chest.
  3. 3 Adapt. A lot of "good" skiers are only able to perform in certain conditions, in order to be the best skier you can be you must be able to adapt to anything the mountain throws at you.(e.g. moguls, ice, powder banks).
  4. 4 Always push yourself. You don't have to feel insecure, but try to push your limits. You learn faster by doing this, you get a wonderful kick and in 9 out of 10 times, you will realize it was not as bad as expected.
