Follow These Tips To Make Yourself A Better Basketball Player

Core Muscles

If you have a kid that wants to play basketball in high school, be sure they’re working on their core muscles. These core muscles for basketball include your lower back, hips and abs. Without a strong core, a player’s performance may not be as good as it could be. A well developed core lets a player generate force with their legs to be applied to faster running and jumping higher.

TIP! Do you want to fool the other team? Try a pass back! Use the dominant hand whenever trying a behind the back pass. The next step is pull the basketball behind the back.

Have your team mates critique your playing skills. Can you get better at something? They may say you’re fast or that you share well. You can learn a lot about your skills by knowing how others see you on the court.

TIP! Talk to your teammates and find out what they like about your game. Are you really good at any one thing? Perhaps you have an excellent understanding of defensive strategies or you are the fastest player on your team.

If you’re shooting isn’t what you’d like it to be, make sure that your shoulders are in the correct position. If you have bad shoulder position it doesn’t matter how great you are the shot isn’t going to go in. Be sure to keep the shoulders squared up to the hoop. Line up your shooting shoulder with the rim as well.

TIP! Focus on your footwork and core strength when working out. When your core is strengthened, you will have more balance and be able to move more swiftly.

If the opposing team is breathing down your neck, it’s a good idea to pass the ball between your legs. Step forward and back while dribbling the ball between your legs hard. When you get this move down, you will have an advantage.

TIP! Always know where your feet are and what they are doing. Stepping ever so slightly out of bounds while you have the ball can cause an overturn.
