2016/7/27 14:23:01

Paul Pierce was a recent popular player who for some time has been singly moving the Boston Celtics to lead in their games. The joining of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett from Seattle SuperSonics and Minnesotta Timberwolves respectively provided Pierce with triumphant team mates and fellow basketball superstars.

With the trio, the team started a hot season with the first eight games all a win and entered the 2008 season with a 26-3 record. Since their last NBA Finals in 1985-1986, the team finished with 66-16 record, gaining the most wins in a single season for the franchise. They were then guaranteed a home court advantage for the entire playoffs. As the team continued to rule the court during the 2008 season, Boston Celtics ticket sales also continued to soar.

Boston Celtics at the 2008 NBA playoffs

As for the 2008 NBA Playoffs, the struggle for number 1 seed has begun. The first round was against Atlanta Hawks. The Celtics were however dominant at home where they had 19 as the lowest home margin of victory against the Hawks in Game 2. Away from home now, the Hawks defeated the Celtics in all the three games in Atlanta where the home team won each game of the seven game series.

The team played its best though until the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. A shootout between Paul Pierce and Lebron James happened during the seventh game, where both scored 40+ points. But ultimately, the Celtics emerged as the victor.

During the playoffs, the Celtics played against Detroit Pistons' Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton. The Celtics finally lost during Game 2 at home and for the first time in 2008. During this time, rumors were spreading that Celtics were too tired from the 7-game series to win another title. However, the Celtics were determined and started to regain in Game 3 in Detroit. The series was played further when they defeated the Pistons in six games and taking the deciding game on the road.

Boston Celtics vs. the LA Lakers

During the 2008 NBA Finals, the Celtics and Lakers faced each other as a continuation of their long rivalry. The Lakers is regarded as the Celtics' greatest rival as these teams have faced each other several times during the NBA Finals. In NBA history, the combined scores of these two teams resulted into 31 NBA Championships out of the 62 NBA seasons. Thus, both teams are accountable for half of the NBA championships.

Because of this historic rivalry, LA Lakers and Boston Celtics tickets are always sought after by NBA fans. Whenever these two teams face each other off at the court, Boston Celtics tickets are especially in-demand among fans from across the country.

Looking back in the history of these two rival teams, the Celtics faced and defeated the Lakers for six times in 1960 during the NBA Finals. In the 1980s, both teams continued to garner most of the NBA Championships, where these two teams won 8 out of the 9 championship games from 1980 to 1988. However, when the Celtics cooled off in the mid- and late-90s, these two teams did not get to play against each other until the 2008 NBA Finals.

The NBA Finals of 2008 was contested with Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant, and a Los Angeles Lakers team who were in the midst of a dominant playoff run. The Celtics finished off with a 131-92 victory and once again, the Celtics brought home the 17th banner.
