Essential Camping Equipment For Festivals

2016/7/26 16:32:35

Summer is festival season around the world. Glastonbury, T in the Park, V, and Coachella are some of the festivals that provide live music, drinking, dancing, and camping. Despite the summer sun, thousands of festival-goers trudging over the same piece of ground creates a muddy field and pretty dire camping conditions. That's why, if you're heading to a festival this summer, you need to be prepared with the equipment for camping to make your festival experience the best it can be.

Let's take a look at some festival camping essentials:

Camping Tent

A good-sized and easily portable tent is a vital piece of camping equipment if you're planning on camping at a festival.

Hammer or Mallet for Tent

There's nothing worse than turning up at a festival and realising you have no way to get the metal tent poles into the ground. Be prepared and take a hammer or mallet with you alongside your other camping gear.

Sleeping Mat / Pad

Put a sleeping pad on the ground before you place your sleeping bag down for extra comfort.

Sleeping Bag

It can get cold at night (even if you're blood is warm from all the dancing and beer), so ensure you have a thick sleeping bag to keep you nice and warm.

Pillow

For a little bit of luxury, make sure you take a pillow with you. Maybe not 'essential' camping gear, but definitely essential for a good night's sleep!

Tarp

Putting tarp on the ground will ensure moisture doesn't seep into your tent and ruin your sleeping area. It's also useful for placing dirty clothes or rubbish on rather than inside your tent.

Camp Chairs / Table

Chairs and a table are handy camping equipment to take to a festival because they provide a social area to meet new people and enjoy the music and atmosphere outside with your friends.

Cooking Equipment

Utensils, pots and a stove are pretty crucial pieces of equipment at a festival. Festival food is notoriously expensive, so making your own is a far cheaper option.

Lantern or Flashlight

You'll need a flashlight to find your tent in the dark when you return after the last act is over. Not only that, if you don't light up your tent with a lantern, people tend to fall into your tent because it is camouflaged against the night.

Garbage Bags

The simplest and cheapest camping gear you can get, garbage bags are vital for cleaning up rubbish and for storing wet and dirty clothes in.

Cleaning Wipes

You won't be at your most hygienic at a festival, but packing some cleaning wipes will help you stay fresh and as clean as you can be while camping outdoors.

A summer festival can be a great experience. So, ensure it is as fun and as comfortable as possible by packing the right equipment for camping alongside your instant noodles and beer.
