Four Great Road Trip Destinations

If traveling is one of your favorite things to do, but with all the recent security at various airports around the country is giving you second thoughts, have you fear. You might consider taking a road trip, instead of taking a plane, train or bus to your next vacation destination. One of the reasons people love taking road trips is because you have total control over your actions.

If you are considering going on a road trip, but aren't quite sure where to go, then this article is for you. I'll give you a few popular destinations in the United States. If any one of these sounds interesting, then it would likely be a great destination for your next road trip.

The first popular destination is the state of Colorado. Sure, it's a big place, but it has plenty to do. If you go during winter, the skiing is world class, and you won't find anything like it anyplace else on the planet. If you come during summer, those same mountains will provide opportunities for hiking and rock climbing. There are also plenty of rivers and lakes for kayaking, white water rafting, or simply sightseeing.

New Orleans is another place that is a magnet for road travelers. The famous Jazz, the world famous cuisine, and atmosphere is all you need to pack your trunk and hit the road. With various internationally famous festivals year round, from Jazz to Mardi Gras, you'll never be at a loss for something to do.

Boston is another popular destination. This city is rife with historical landmarks, as well as friendly pubs with a hometown atmosphere. There are also plenty of museums and concerts to choose from, as well as many world class sports teams.

And of course, if you feel like heading west, then consider going to California. From thousands of miles of beaches, scorching deserts, to the highest mountain in the continental United States, California has plenty to offer. You can head up north to see the world famous Golden Gate bridge, or head to the south to visit Hollywood, and hang out with some movie stars.

Whichever destination you choose, you are bound to have a great time. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time so you can really enjoy all that America has to offer. Take time getting to your destination, and take plenty of time there. Since you'll be driving and setting your own schedule, you don't really have to worry about crowds, so you can go any time of the year. Summer time is ideal if you've got kids in school. Take your time, and have fun.
