Will’s Baby Crocodile on Camping trip

During one of our camping trips a couple of years ago, my brother will found a baby crocodile that he brought back home without telling my parents about it.  He raised and fed the crocodile and it grew to become quite large.  We had a small lake near our home and Will kept the crocodile there.

The problems began when a company began to clear land on the other side of the lake for a caravan park.  We watched as over the next few weeks, several areas were cleared and workers came in to run water, electricity, and sewage to the area.  A large area was cleared and a small building was erected to serve as the offices for the caravan park.

Within a few weeks, people began to start using the caravan park and I knew it wouldn’t be long before someone saw the crocodile.  Sure enough two boys who were fishing near our side of the lake saw the crocodile and ran back to tell.  I told Will it was time to fess up and we went and told our parents.

Our parents went over to talk with the manager of the caravan park and explained what had happened.  Authorities were called in to help capture the crocodile even though we tried to explain he wouldn’t hurt anyone.  After a couple of hours of trying to get the crocodile, my brother and I had to help them capture the crocodile.

Will was very upset to see the crocodile taken away.  My dad thought that maybe another camping trip would get Will’s mind off the situation.  We went camping and Will was happy again.  I should have known it was too easy when I found that Will had collected another baby crocodile not far from our camping site.  He begged me not to say anything and I told him we could try to see what would happen next.
