The  name Nandidurg came on the basis of the fort that was built here by Tipu Sultan,'durg' meaning fort.

Visit Timings and Entry fee
Public are permitted to visit Nandi Hills and Tippu Fort area between  6 am and 10 pm. Visitors are also required to obtain entry tokens on payment of a fee of Rs 5 per person. There are parking spaces available for visitors, on a parking charges of Rs 15 for two-wheelers and Rs 60 for a four-wheeler.

How to Reach Nandi Hills
Nandi Hills is situated close to new Bangalore International Airport and one can reach this place from National Highway. It is about 20 km from the NH7. There are frequent bus services from Kempagowda Bus Terminus and also buses available from  Majestic circle.

Chikkaballapur has a railway station, which is connected with other major Railway junctions of Karnataka and one can reach Nandi Hills from there easily.

Bangalore International Airport is the nearest airport for reaching Nandi Hills.
