PGA Golf Tee Box Rules: Choosing the Right Tees for Your Game
Question
Are there any specific PGA golf rules as to who can hit from the golf or red tees vs the blue or white. I believe once you can not change. Is age or handicap in on the decision. Thank you
Answer
Hi Charlie: Once you begin a round of golf, you should continue playing from the same tees so that your score can be included in your handicap calculation. If you don't have or want to keep a handicap, you can play from where ever you wish. That may be a tough sell to those playing with you, especially if there's money on the game.
If you play in tournaments, the tees you play may be determined based on age, handicap or a combination of the two.
There are no hard and fast rules covering this but the PGA has come up with some guidelines that are supposed to make the game more enjoyable and is based on how far you hit your tee shots. You can read about this here:

Good luck Charlie and thanks for the question.
