Safety Tips And Pointers For Children’s Outdoor Toys

2016/7/26 16:05:46

There are many enjoyable children’s outdoor toys but there must be safety at all times when these are utilized. All children’s outdoor toys have been manufactured with the safety of the children as top priority but good adult supervision and maintenance care need to be exercised to ensure the children’s safety at all times, whether the toy is in use or not.

Safety Guidelines

Every toy for children will have some manufacturer’s safety guidelines recommended to ensure that there is no risk of injury to the child and only pure enjoyment with the toy.

Hence, all children’s outdoor toys are manufactured for a certain age group due to various factors like weather and size. There is always an age range recommendation for any children’s outdoor toy which should be adhered to so that younger children will not hurt themselves. For example, the monkey bar is not suitable for children below 7 years as they are not strong enough to push through the bars. Their motor coordination is not efficient yet to move themselves.

Climbing frames

Climbing frames are great motivators of motor skills and coordination for all growing children. However, they need to have a safety area attached to ensure safety in mounting and dismounting. The safety area is recommended to be about two meters with a preference of non-concrete material.

There should be adult supervision on children playing on the climbing frames to be alert to rough play or falls. There should not be an overcrowding of children on the climbing frames at any one time which can incur hurt and falls easily.

Trampolines

Trampolines make great children’s outdoor toys for children above 6 years. There should be adult supervision in case the child jumps on the sides or spaces and gets trapped or hurt. There should not be more than one child using the trampoline without constant adult supervision as one child might accidentally knock or step on the other child.

The trampoline should be placed in a soft area of your garden to break the fall of your child in case he jumps out of the trampoline accidentally. The trampoline’s legs should be firmly on the ground for greater stability.

Most of these board games have been adapted for outside fun to take advantage of the sunshine. Your children will get enough vitamin D for strong bones and body. They will not be inclined to the TV, video games or computer with these delightful children’s outdoor toys.

Good quality materials are used for an outdoor see saw to ensure the safety of the children. See saws are built to last; they are easy to install without taking a lot of garden space.

A girly playhouse usually comes in pink with some versions offering a play tent with the playhouse. The play tent is hexagonal in shape with fabric windows that can be tied up complete with a flag, making it look surreal like a castle.

Swings are good children’s outdoor toys that help to develop the children’s motor skills and coordination as well as enhance their physical strength. Children can develop their health through fun play on swings instead of the routine and boring exercises.

If required, set up the safety net around the trampoline to avoid a falling over the trampoline’s edge. Remove the ladder when the trampoline is not in use to discourage children from climbing up on their own.Children should not be allowed to try dangerous stunts on the trampoline.

Sandpits

Sandpits or sandboxes must be well maintained to avoid an adverse impact on your children’s health. Use only washed sand in the pits. Put the pit under a shady area where there is no weed to avoid weeds growing in the pit but not beneath trees where dead leaves or bird droppings can drop in.
