Outdoor Fitness And Health

Many of us fail to realize the importance of staying fit and healthy in our youth, but as we progress towards our old age, we start comprehending the advantages of exercise and regular eating and sleeping habits. Observing a regular fitness and health program not only boosts our bodily functions, but also enables us to efficiently cope with the stress and pressure of our fast-paced lives. However, it is never too late. It is not necessary to follow a strenuous exercise regime since the aim is not to become a body builder, but to maintain a healthy body. Hence, even a mild form of exercise like brisk walking or a moderate one like bicycling or swimming is sufficient to keep the body fit. Depending on various factors like your age, physical condition and how much time you can afford to take out from your busy lifestyle, you can adopt a suitable health and fitness program.

Being fit and healthy are complementary to each other, there exists a thin line between them. The term Fitness includes several, different components like strength, power, stamina and endurance. In other words, it can be defined as the physical capacity of the body in relation to work. An individual fitness or the working capacity of the human body can be evaluated and determined by assessing energy levels. This can be done in the laboratory, by testing the level of energy using a cycle ergo meter or an athletic track. The former method measures the amount of energy produced when cycling at a certain heart rate and the latter, by measuring how far one can run in a given time period.

While on the other hand, health implies the absence of any disease or ailments in the human body. Good health entails not only being free from any kind of sickness but also overall, physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Compared to fitness, good health is a wider concept. Although, health and fitness go hand-in-hand, this may not always be the case. For instance, you may be fit and play any sport of your choice but this does not necessarily imply that you could not suffer from a major health setback. Depending on how fit and healthy you want to be, you need to adjust the intensity of your exercise and training program. Here are a few tips that will help you to maintain an active lifestyle, thereby promoting a fit and healthy body:

1. Register for fitness training program like gymnastic training, weigh lifting, running, swimming, and so on.

2. Include various forms of physical activities and promote activeness in your daily routine, for instance- instead of using a golf cart or hiring the services of a caddie to carry your golf bag, walk down the golf course and carry your equipment.

3. Avoid using the escalator or the elevator. Instead use the stairs, if not for climbing up, at least for going down.

4. Enroll in a dancing class or indulge in swimming, ice-skating or martial arts.

5. It is also possible to do some isometric exercises while still sitting at your office desk.
