An Invaluable Gerber Gator Machete Review

2016/7/16 16:33:42

Hunters and hikers alike look for the clearest path with the least resistance when they set out through the forest. Many times, in order to find the "route", they must make their own path. But how can they remove unwanted brush without spend too much in their wallet? With the low priced, high output Gerber machete.

In terms of price, the Gerber Gator Machete with its gator grip seems to be either a fantastic deal, or a rip-off. For less than $30 you can buy the machete and have it shipped to your doorstep. Various home improvement stores carry similar tools for roughly the same price-but with fewer features. So is the machete from Gerber under-priced or overpriced?

Technically, this Gerber product is somewhat of a cross between a knife, and machete. Still, it's a fantastic addition to any outdoors-man's gear. When you need a handy tool for slicing through brush, the Gerber machete is the right one. Weighing just one pound and slightly over two feet in length, this tool is large enough to be effective, but small enough not to be burdensome while in the Great Outdoors.

One of the biggest perks of the Gerber machete is the sheath that it's bundled with. A sheath is something that you need for any machete, adding safety and convenience to the lengthy knife. Many machetes are sold without a sheath, so this definitely adds extra value to the machete from Gerber.

Another of the biggest features of this tool is the gator grip handle. The polymid fiberglass handle is extremely durable, and lengthy enough to grip with two hands. Two bolts attach the handle to the tool, so you can be assured that it will stay affixed to the oversized knife.

OK, it's reasonable to say that machetes, such as a Gerber machete, aren't built to win a beauty contest. But the Gerber Gator machete gets high marks for both its function AND form. One could even argue that it resembles a large knife more than a machete. In any case, the overall appearance of the Gerber Gator is sleek and practical. It looks like something that you could be proud to display in your kitchen!

The bottom line is that the Gerber Machete tool is a fantastic deal. Mini machetes sold in home improvement stores tend to have approximately the same price tag, but often lack features such as the oxide coating and complimentary sheath. Meanwhile, the Gerber version with its Gator Grip can cost less than $30-including the shipping cost!

If you need a machete that does more than clear brush, then consider the Gerber Gator Machete. It's a solid tool in form and function, from the tip of its blade to the end of its handle!
