Here Fishie Fishie: Bass Fishing Bait

2016/7/18 10:31:34

When it comes to fishing, an angler just cannot take the fish on by himself. While some leisurely activities can be enjoyed without any outside equipment, some activities, like sports, require a lot of tools. Fishing is no exception. Throughout fishing history, however, the tools of the trade have change.

Primitive fisherman used spears to catch fish, while others used sticks with string. In the modern fishing world, though, fishing has become as glamorous and commercialized as any other sport. But for the average angler, a modest repertoire of equipment can suffice, especially when bass is the target.

While a boat and stylish clothing is not mandatory, a rod with a good line is, and so is bass fishing bait. Bait can come in many styles, and it is up to the angler to know which conditions call for certain bait. But in the end, bass fishing bait is only beneficial; the fish are getting smarter, and if the angler cannot trick them into biting, a day of fishing will prove nothing but frustrating and fruitless.

Attracting the Prey

Bass fishing bait depends on the type of the bass. Smallmouth and largemouth bass like different environment and have different temperaments, a quality that is often not equated to fish. While bass fishing bait can be both live and artificial, they are still designed for the best possible success in the various conditions bass are attracted to.

For smallmouth bass, bass fishing bait such ass hellgrammites, dragonflies and crayfish are the most successful, especially during late evening or early morning. However, live crayfish are illegal in many locations. Smallmouth bass like rocky lakes or streams, anywhere where crayfish are located, and like shallow waters where the sun penetrates. Artificial bass fishing bait that mimics crayfish, or those that float on the surface of the water, are ideal as well, and the angler must also use caution to remain as quiet as possible.

Largemouth bass bite at almost everything; they are extremely aggressive, put up a good fight and offer the best reward for the challenge. Minnows, worms and numerous other live bass fishing bait are successful, and poppers, streamers and plugs, artificial bass fishing bait that offer a lot of movement, attract largemouth bass as well.

Largemouth bass are attracted to weeds, and therefore, the bait used must be able to withstand the weeds and not get caught or detached. Largemouth bass appreciate warm water as well, so winter is not an ideal time for angler, but because they do not like direct sunlight, the weeds should always be the first place to look.
