Productive Wisconsin Bass Fishing Spots

When it comes to fishing in Wisconsin, there are a wealth of good bass fishing spots from which to choose, and being armed with the knowledge of where to go to catch bass will help you to capitalize on the wide variety of choices in the state of Wisconsin. The following summary should help you get started when you are ready to bass fish in Wisconsin.Menominee River, Wisconsin:

There is an almost legendary bass fishing location on the Michigan border of the Menominee River in Marinette and Florence counties. It offers an undeveloped shoreline, which gives anglers an almost wilderness kind of feeling that is pristine and picturesque. The down side to this is that the boat ramps are often in areas that are not easy to access.

It is the smallmouth bass that are the Menominee River's main attraction, but there are largemouth bass to be caught in the prolific waters of this river as well.

It is in the calm waters of the flowages that you are apt to hook yourself a whole live well of bronzebacks. Anglers believe the best way to catch largemouth in the Menominee is to cast artificial bait into the cover in the middle river areas or into cover around the shoreline or in structure in the middle part of the river. The thing is crank bait and spinner bait will work well, particularly if it is colored to mimic crawfish or minnows.

It is easy to catch the legal limit of smallies, but you can catch your limit of largemouth in the Menominee as well as being able to find trophy sized bass in the river's lazy waters too. Most anglers agree that, when it comes to fishing for trophy sized bass, live bait rigs will serve you well, and generally even work better than some of the so called more sophisticated lures you can choose.

Another great Wisconsin Bass Lake is Lake Noquebay. This 2,400 acre lake is a largemouth hotspot, but it does contain smallies as well. Lake Noquebay is only a few miles northeast of the Crivitz city limits. It is close enough to the Menominee River that you can fish one today and the other tomorrow, and come home with more smallies and largemouth bass than you can shake a stick at.

If you want to catch big bass on Noquebay, don't limit yourself to the more shallow shoreline areas. Move out into the edges of the weeds in the deep water areas of the lake. Live bait seems to catch the most fish here as well. If you can trap minnows from the lake's waters for spring fishing and fish leeches in the summer, you are going to find some big bass on your stringer. Just try some slip bobbers and drift your bait into the tight weeded areas for good results.

Kentuck Lake is a smaller lake at just under a thousand acres, but it offers bass anglers in Wisconsin a good opportunity to catch bass. It is located in Vilas County just east of the Eagle River, and it home to both smallies and bronzebacks, with smallies being a little more plentiful than the largemouths.
