Louisiana Man Sentenced to 40 Years for Killing Wife During Argument Over Fishing

I usually have something flip thing to say. But not here. This is a senseless killing and a devastating story, especially considering there was a child involved. 

Ronald Ivan Carper Jr. pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the strangulation and stabbing death of his wife. The two had been arguing over Carper going fishing.

[Ninth] Judicial District Judge Thomas Yeager handed down the 40-year sentence on Monday. . . .

Carper . . . reportedly called 911 and told an operator that he had killed his wife, authorities reported. . . . [He] showed officers inside the house, where they found the victim's body on the sofa. . . . Also inside the house was a 9-month-old child asleep in the next room.
