Where to Locate Brook Trout in Streams

2016/7/18 11:37:03

Location, Location, Location ... This is the key to getting fish and not getting fish.

Look for the trout rising , if they aren't look for movement in the water if the stream is clear, if there is no sign of fish , don't fret, test out the waters by tossing your favorite lure or fly into where you think there might be fish, if you take 15 casts and still no fish move to the next spot. That next sport could produce a dozen fish or one monster. You just never know. Most trout hang out in the main pool at the tail end of the run but, The fish can also be holding on the edge of the riffle or in an undercut bank. Do not overlook any water you think the trout could be hiding. Pay close attention to every movement in the water, if you want to catch more fish on the fly. Match the hatch , turnover the rocks and look for nymphs. (aka Trout Food) Also scour the sky for flies, shake bushes to release the flies on the leaves.

If you own a Waterproof Digital Camera like a Fujifilm Finepix XP20, Dunk it underwater where you think trout may be hiding and see if the trout are there! Its like having a Scanner that you can see every fish in the pool!
