TASK 6: Reasons to fish in your town - Colorado Springs

There are 3 ponds in Colorado Springs that hold fish and the public are allowed to fish.  The first pond is Pikeview it is located on Nevada and Garden of the Gods.  This is the only lake in Colorado Springs that holds tiger musky, but it also holds everything else.  Great little pond to take kids to, trout can be caught relatively easy with powerbait and salmon eggs, bluegill like to hide in the rocks which makes it easy for the kids to drop worms down and pull them out, plus it has some nice saugeye and catfish to keep you busy.  There is also a large school of carp that pull like a freight train when hooked into.  There are two floating docks that are left in year round that you can fish from.  In the winter dropping a few holes at the end of the dock can provide hours of entertainment, pulling in rainbow trout after rainbow trout. Heading south we have Prospect Lake which is located in Memorial Park.  This is the only lake in Colorado Springs that allows boating, with a permit.  This lake was recently drained less than 2 years ago but has been stocked very well since then with multiple species.  It is mostly fished for the stocked trout but the perch are also becoming a popular target.  This is a great lake to take the family to, to enjoy the park and the lake. The park has playground equipment which can keep the younger kids from getting too bored with fishing, by taking time off to play.  This being the largest of the lakes in Colorado Springs but still small enough to walk around it gets the most pressure. Lastly, is Quail Lake which is located off Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. behind Tinseltown.  This is the prettiest lake in Colorado Springs and provides a nice view of the foot hills.  It also shares some of the better qualities of the other lakes in Colorado Springs. Good to take the kids to with lots of stocker rainbow trout and bluegills in the rocks.  But also has potential for some better quality fish and numerous species.  This lake is the only lake in Colorado Springs that holds northern pike.  The lake has two fishing docks and a nice rip rap dam to fish from.  Out of all three lakes the bass fishing at this lake is probably the best. As always if you have any questions about my review or need help finding some small streams to fish stop by our website http://www.coloradomountainfishing.com Join in the forum and we will be glad to help.
