Southeast Florida Fishing Report  - Week 3 - September 2012 Offshore on the troll, Dorado were in 500-800 feet, with the best bites coming around flotsam, weeds and birds. Kingfish, Wahoo, Bonito and BFT were scattered in 120-500 feet. Skirted Ballyhoo, strip baits, and artificials brought the fish in. The dark side swordfish bite has been good. On the reefs and wrecks, Yellowtail and Mutton Snapper, Kingfish, small Dorado, Spanish Mackerel, Jacks, Grouper, Pompano and Bonito were in 60-210 feet Sardines, pilchards, cut baits and tipped jigs were bait of choice. Occasional Sailfish were caught on live baits. Near shore, along the beaches, piers, inlets and the Intracoastal Waterway, bait was plentiful. Blue fish, Blue Runners, Spanish /Cero mackerel, Pompano, Snappers, Jacks, were biting mullet, shrimp, pilchards, cut baits and lures. The best Snook action was around docks, bridges at night with small live mullet , shrimp, spoons and lures producing the best results. In freshwater, the Big O and smaller lakes are still producing well. The water level is holding high. The bass bite outside the grass lines has been best early morning on Live shiners, spinner baits and topwater baits. Plastic worms produced better in the early evening. Big Largemouth can still be caught in the 7-10 pound range.  In canals Largemouth an Peacock Bass are biting well in the early morning and evening. Tight Lines, Bent Poles, and Screaming Drags!!!
