Three Stage Ice Fishing Contest

2016/7/18 14:17:14

I know this is late notice, but the Three Stage Ice Fishing Contest starts this weekend at Blue Mesa Reservoir.  The contest is sponsored by the Gunnison Chamber of Commerce.  The admission is $25 dollars per stage.

The first stage is January 7, 2012 and is called the RaBroLaPerKo Series.  Points are based on the combined length of the largest Rainbow, Brown Trout, Lake Trout, Perch and Kokanee.  1" = 1 point.  Points for Perch and Kokanee are doubled.  Most points win.

The second stage is on February 4, 2012 and is called the Mac Attack Series.  Points are based on the most cumulative inches of Lake Trout.

The third stage is March 3, 2012 and is called the Cattle in a Pasture Series.  Contestants are limited to a pre-marked area.  Contestants are allowed to measure one fish per hour and four trout all day.  On ice BBQ is provided.

The overall champion will be awarded based on combined points for all three stages.

Check in will be at Pappy's Restaurant at 5:30 AM each day.  Fishing starts at 7:00 AM.  Weigh in by 3:00 PM.

Ranibows and Browns over 20" and Lakers over 25" can be photographed and measured with the supplied ruler and released.  For more information visit: http://www.gunnisonchamber.com/userfiles/file/ice%20fishing%20flyer.pdf
