I picked up my friend Mike about an hour later at the dock and we headed back to the same area I was fishing earlier to try our luck on some fluke. Mike had rigged up a white C & H Alien Jig with a white Berkley Gulp Alive Swimming Mullet and I rigged up a chartreuse C & H Alien Jig with a white Berkley Gulp Alive Swimming Mullet. Both these jigs produced a mixed bag of fish. We caught a ton of fluke, Mike had two keepers and I had one.
Mike had a 21 & a 23 inch fish and I had a 21 inch fish.
In that one area we also caught bluefish, northern kingfish, the pesky searobin and several more weakfish. The highlight was the nice tiderunner weakfish that Mike had caught. I am hoping the weakfish stay in the bay this summer, they are one of my favorite fish to target on light tackle.
We had a day of none stop fishing action with Mike's white Alien Jig out fishing my chartreuse Alien Jig. I burned about a gallon of fuel for the whole day because the area we fished was a half mile from the boat ramp. After the lousy stretch of weather we have had the past few weeks it felt great to spend a day on the water.
