Florida Fence Height Regulations: Residential & Commercial Limits

* 6 feet high: Fences in residential areas cannot exceed 6 feet in height.

* Exceptions: There are a few exceptions to this rule. For example, fences around swimming pools must be at least 4 feet high, and fences around certain agricultural areas may be up to 8 feet high.

Commercial areas

* 8 feet high: Fences in commercial areas can be up to 8 feet high.

Setback requirements

In addition to height restrictions, there are also setback requirements for fences in Florida. These requirements vary depending on the location of the fence. For example, fences in residential areas must be set back at least 5 feet from the property line, while fences in commercial areas must be set back at least 10 feet from the property line.

Violations

If you build a fence that violates the height or setback requirements, you may be subject to fines or other penalties. Additionally, you may be required to remove the fence.
