How to Raise a Copper Outdoor Faucet: Tools, Materials & Instructions

To raise the height of a copper outside pipe water faucet, you will need the following tools and materials:

Tools:

* Adjustable wrench

* Hacksaw

* Tape measure

* Level

* Plumber's putty

* Soldering iron

* Solder

Materials:

* Copper pipe (same diameter as the existing faucet)

* Compression coupling

* 2 compression nuts

* 2 compression sleeves

Instructions:

1. Measure the height of the existing faucet from the ground to the spout.

2. Cut a piece of copper pipe to the desired height.

3. Attach one of the compression nuts to the bottom of the copper pipe.

4. Slide the compression sleeve onto the copper pipe, making sure that the end with the smaller hole is facing upwards.

5. Insert the copper pipe into the compression coupling.

6. Slide the other compression sleeve onto the copper pipe.

7. Thread the second compression nut onto the compression coupling.

8. Tighten the compression nuts until they are snug.

9. Wrap the threads of the faucet shank with plumber's putty.

10. Screw the faucet onto the compression coupling.

11. Use the level to make sure that the faucet is plumb.

12. Solder the connection between the copper pipe and the faucet shank.

13. Turn on the water supply and check for leaks.
