Planning a vacation can be a difficult process if you have a whole family with varying interests. However, if you pick a great location like Shakopee, then you will be able to find vacation activities in MN that are sure to make everyone happy. There is always something to do in this town that boasts amazing landscapes. The sights and sounds of this place will make you want to spend your entire vacation outdoors. Here are some popular destinations and activities to keep everyone in your family smiling. 

Golf Courses

If you are a family that golfs or you just want a few hours to yourself, then you should definitely check out the golf courses in Shakopee. There are numerous ones to choose from, so you will have your pick of prices and level of difficulty. This town is known for having great courses with lush greens and any course that you choose will provide hours of a peaceful and challenging game. Also, be sure to check out the restaurants and clubs adjoining the course. If you are someone who is passionate about golf, this is the place to go. 

Murphy's Landing

One of the favorite activities of locals and tourists alike in Shakopee is Murphy's Landing. This is a historical real-life museum with staff members dressed in 19th century garb. There are historical buildings, museums, and nature walks that you can visit in this 88 acre museum. The mission of the museum is to show visitors how people lived and used the Minnesota River in the past as a main resource. The staff is knowledgable and are willing to answer many questions while on tour. This activity is very kid friendly and laid back, the children can run around outside all day, but it also offers an intriguing experience for adults as well. 

Canterbury Park

This horse racing track is the number one visited site in Shakopee. People come from all around to visit this award winning track. Even if you aren't a gambler, it is still a fun time to come watch the horses and you can join in with all the exciting activities. There are also great on-site eating options, so you could spend the greater part of the day here. If you wonder if you can bring your kids, the answer is yes! Canterbury Park caters to its guests who want to bring their family along by providing a large play area for the younger kids to play around in. Though they will probably want to watch the horses anyway. 

Valley Fair

If theme parks are more your vacation style, then you are in luck! This theme park is an exciting destination for locals and tourists. There are not several roller coasters, but also a water park as well for the hotter days of your vacation. The lines move relatively fast for a theme park and there are rides that cater to all ages and heights. This theme park is big into expansion and there is almost always a few new rides that weren't there the year before, so every summer it has something exciting and unexpected to offer. There is a great spread of summer foods available, so there's no need to pack a lunch. You will find the hours whizzing by as you go from ride to ride, and if you are planning on going more than one day, it may be worth the investment of buying a season pass. Though these are the highlights of Shakopee, there are so many more vacation activities in MN to choose from for your upcoming family trip.
