Choosing Between Private Instructors and Golf Schools

2016/7/19 14:24:44

One can take golf lessons usually in two ways: First by individual or one- to- one basis with a personal instructor with lessons spread over several months or weeks and secondly by attending golf camp or golf school for a set of continuous 2-3 days in a group setting

.What is good for you? This depends on several factors: the time at your disposal, what is your budget and what type of instruction is best suited to your personality.

One can really improve one's game if one can schedule one- to -one lessons spread regularly over a period of months. This is because you are able to identify problems in your game in one session and can come back for a second session after having worked on the instructions you received at the end of the first session. Besides, your instructor will be able to judge immediately whether you have worked on the instructions you received in the previous session.

But a series of lessons with a top instructor over a period of time will be costlier than  golf training camps or golf school. Private lessons have the advantage to provide follow up instructions over a time period with the instructor providing focus on a particular message in each session and build on the message at each following session.

In contrast, day long golf camps and few- days- golf sessions entail the golf student to learn golf in a group setting. The student must be comfortable in a group setting. Schools are ideal for those who don't have the time or budget to schedule golf lessons from a private instructor over a series of long term sessions. In the case of a golf school, one can schedule 2 or 3 continuous session of golf training and get all the lessons in a compact package.

The disadvantage with this method of learning golf is that there is no follow up from a golf instructor. You have to fend for yourself once you leave the golf clinic or camp. Additionally in a group, a student has to process more information thrown at them. He is faced with the dilemma: What did he learn? What must he focus on?

If you are bent upon golf school, try to choose one with low student-teacher ratio. Also, make sure that the instructor can cut through the vast amount of information and deliver the most important lessons to you. Golf camps are ideal for those going on golf vacations.

For example, IMG golf academy in Florida features expertly trained coaches who are able to teach various aspects of golf like a technically sound swing.

Golfers also require taking care of their physical and mental qualities. Many doubt whether golf players need to be athletic. The fact is that golf does require a great deal of athleticism. Therefore, they do require golf fitness training. Both golf instructors, as well as, golf academies provide this training.
