Why Playing Golf Is Good For Kids

Kids love to play. The type of play a child will participate in varies. With today’s advancement in technology, there are video games, Playstation and Nintendo, which offer a variety of games for kids to play. The problem with all these games is that they do not allow the child to physically participate. They just sit all day and play using the joysticks. One of the advantages of playing is that kids get some exercise but with video games there is rarely any exercise involved. It is up to the parent to encourage their kids to go out and play, run, ride a bike or climb a tree.

If you are looking for a sport for your kids to participate in, then golf is a great game for them. Some people may think that golf is just for adults and kids would not have fun playing but this is not the case. There are numerous benefits of playing golf. It enables you to spend quality time with your kids doing a fun activity. As you teach them to play golf, you also create a bond with them. You can also record playing sessions and watch them later together. You can also play with the extended family since golf is also for grandparents. If you have young kids there are kids’ golf clubs that they can use. There are golf clubs for kids as young as 3 years.

Another benefit is that the kids get some exercise while having fun. Golf requires that a person moves from one hole to another. The games are structured such that if you are playing a nine hole game, you have to move form one hole to another to hit your ball so as to complete the game. This is great cardio for the kids. If the school they attend has a golf team, I am sure you will be more at ease knowing that your child is at the golf course getting some exercise rather than sitting in front of the TV playing a video game. If you have teenagers, there are kids’ golf clubs suitable for ages 13 and above.

In the process of playing golf there are also some virtues that can be instilled within your kids. Playing golf requires patience. The kids will learn to be patient enough to let the other players have their turn at playing. If you have only one child, playing in a golf team will instill in them the ability to be considerate of others. The kids will also learn to be responsible in that when they lose the game it will not be the teams fault but the child’s fault. They learn to take responsibility for their actions.

Last but not least, as with all sports, there are also golf scholarships that are awarded to excellent players. Therefore training your kids at an early age will enable them to develop the skill so that by the time they are going to college they can apply for a sport scholarship. Remember there are kids’ golf clubs for all ages so you need not wait until they are teenagers to start teaching them.
