Try the Ping G15 Driver with Improved Distance

2016/7/19 15:28:48

Having liked the much hyped and wildly popular G10 driver, I was very keen to see how Ping had managed the improvements in the G15 version. And straight away you realise they've managed very well indeed.

The ping g15 driver provides maximum forgiveness with improved distance and accuracy. Golfers of all skill levels can play the G15. Additional weight helps launch trajectory. It is a worthy successor to the popular G10 driver. The i15 is aimed at the better golfer. Its sleek all-black scheme features a lower, piercing trajectory with ability to work the ball.

This ticks all the boxes when I'm choosing a driver. It goes long and straight when you hit it well and it goes reasonably long and reasonably straight when you don't hit it so well. The design is quite understated, especially at address (with a much improved alignment aid) which adds to the impression that this is an unfussy bit of kit that will get the job done time and time again.

To increase the moment of inertia or MOI the G15 has an elongated head from back to front which has lead to an improvement in MOI. This works in tandem with the G15 driver's 7% larger clubface to give more stability and forgiveness, even on those occasional off centre hits.

The Ping G15 was as easy a driver to get off the tee as I recall ever hitting. An elongated face provides a sweet spot that covers the mishits of most golfers. Heel and toe hits were not greatly penalized and most of my tee shots ended up in the short grass with only a small loss of distance on mishits. If you have a tendancy to be inconsistent off the tee, the golf clubs sale should be just the ticket.

While it was easy being the G-Man, I wondered if I had what it takes to be the "i-guy." As a mid-handicapper, I was a bit concerned that the imposing look of the titanium-carbon head would prove to be for accomplished golfers only. The result? Wow! The sound was a solid, pleasing "thwack."

For players in my handicap range this is one of the best drivers I've tried for a while. With the G10 having been so popular Ping will have felt the pressure to deliver the goods with this upgrade but they've pulled off the trick with something to spare.
