Americas Best Golf Courses Available to the Public

A look at the top golf course in the United States usually consist of layouts the average player has no chance of ever playing, but there are some great tracks available to the public and some that are even affordable.

 

If you're looking to play and want a golf experience of a lifetime, these courses will offer you the feel of a private country club and all the amenities needed for an experience you will never forget.

 

Pebble Beach is a golfing mecca and a must play for any golfer. Located in the Monterrey Peninsula on the Central Coast of California, this golf club has a deep history, great views, and service second to none. A camera is needed as much as your golf clubs and with so many memories from past US Opens, this course is number one on most golfers bucket lists.

 

Another West Coast must play course is Pacific Dunes in Oregon. Designer Tom Doak makes you feel as if your playing on one of the best courses in the UK with every hole having spectacular feel and a natural look that makes the course look like it has been around for a hundred years. It is difficult to get to Bandon Dunes Resort, but with five great choices and prices starting at just $50.00, this resort might become your favorite.

 

One of the top new courses and host of the 2017 US Open is Erin Hills Golf Course in Wisconsin. At over 7,800 yards from the back tees, this place is a monster layout that will test any golfer, even those playing from the 6,400 yard white tee markers. Rates at this lush layout are around $200 and for a bit more you get an experienced caddie to help you around this long, but beautiful track.

 

Wisconsin golfers must think the rest of America has short courses and Whistling Straights at nearly 7,800 yards is also a public golfers must play course. Pete Dye designed his tough layout that has already hosted a PGA Championship and with views of Lake Michigan and the feel of some of Ireland's top golf courses, this golf resort has the rustic charm with modern-day amenities.

 

For those looking to play on a budget, but still get a golfing experience to remember, Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg, Nebraska is for you. The course was built in the same area as the famed Sand Hills Private Club, ranked in the top 20 by Golf Digest, but is valued for the everyday golfer. At just under 6,900 yards, this terrific layout will challenge golfers of any level and give you the feel of Scotland from the middle of America. With green fees starting at $42.00, this is a trip worth taking, no matter where you live.

 

Every state has a few great public layouts and most want cost you a paycheck to play, but these golf courses are a step above the rest with their service, location, or prices and will give you those memories to last a lifetime and stories to share with your friends when you get back home.
