On Choosing Golf Accessories

2016/7/19 16:16:01

Apart from the internet, golf accessories are displayed in dozens of leaflets and catalogues. This is enough to confuse anyone, especially a newbie.

But you need accessories anyway. So let us discuss three golf accessories to start with.

A Good Golf Bag

Few things are more important to a golfer than a good golf bag. If you venture out to purchase one, retailers will entice you with many styles and colors. But functionality is what you must look for.

For example, look out for a golf bag that has legs that fold out when they are placed on the ground. Such a bag will stand upright and you won't have to bend to pick the bag up. This is a nice feature since most golfers tend to walk the course a lot.

All bags invariably have compartments to keep the golf clubs, but some have tubes to protect the club grips. This is a great feature because tubes would help a golfer to get the clubs out easily.

Some golfers choose a golf bag depending on the number of pockets it has. Pockets are a convenient addition. No number is one too many.

One pocket can hold extra towels to wipe your sweat off during the extreme heat in summer.

Another one can keep the hood to protect the bag and clubs from getting drenched in rain.

And another is useful to store the golf balls. It must be big enough to keep at least a dozen. And finally, a separate pocket would be great to keep extra golf tees and the divot tool.

Golf shoes

Are right shoes a necessary golf accessory?

Some kind of footwear is required on all courses. You have to decide what footwear is best for you.

Some club houses allow only soft spikes so the golf course does not get chewed up by walking around. Besides, soft spikes will protect the carpet when worn inside the club house.

Frankly, there are no hard and fast rules. The basic thing is shoes must be comfortable to wear. It sure is irritating to have pinched toes since you are out of focus with the game.

The tread pattern of the shoe is important. If the shoe is slick at the bottom with no pattern at all, forget this pair. Such shoes will have little traction and none at all if the course is wet.

Golf gloves

A golf glove provides a secure grip. The cadet golf glove position the club properly in both the hands enabling you to hold the handle with the right amount of pressure.

Typically you will need one glove on the lead hand, though some use gloves on both the hands.

Each of these golf accessories is important, depending on the way you use them.
